Sacred Heart Apostolate

History of Sacred Heart Apostolate

The Sacred Heart Apostolate of Syracuse was started by Gloria Anson after she heard a talk about the enthronement of the Sacred Heart in a local church. She read The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart, by Rev. Francis Larkin, SS.CC., which was recommended by the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and she began to implement steps to enthrone the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in her own home.

The former Bishop Joseph O'Keefe of the Diocese of Syracuse, New York, blessed and encouraged the operation of the Sacred Heart Center, which is the home base of operations for Gloria's national ministry. Over the past 32 years of the ministry, beginning in 1974, she has been supported by all her bishops.

With Father Bill Gaffney, CSsR, Gloria presents parish missions throughout the country, teaching families about the love and graces that abound in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
